Turned down more than 99 million? Are you kidding me? There’s only 2 things I wouldn’t do for 99 Million.

M: “You don’t trust anyone, do you?”

Bond: “...no.”

M: “Then you’ve learned your lesson.”

I understand being tired of a role...but come on man $99m! That at least had to make him pause and think

Makes you wonder just how much bank the studio makes off of these films.

I guess he wasn’t kidding when he said he was done during the Spectre press tour.

He’s probably the ultimate no-fucks-given Bond. Basically if his Netflix membership just expired and he ran out of chill.

He sliced his fingertip clean off while shooting QoS. I’d probably be tired of it too.

I think Skyfall made, as near as makes no difference, a billion. SPECTRE a bit less - but I bought 2 tickets (and I rarely go to a theater) and the bluray. Craig is the closest to the Bond in the books - read the first one, Casino Royale, if you want a taste. Bond is dark, and a killer. I like my Bond like I like my Batman. Dark. Not prancing around in a safari jacket ....

The cold open to Casino Royale. When he caught the empty gun the bombmaker threw at him and threw it back and hit the bombmaker in the head, I was so in. I realized he’d be fantastic, and he did not disappoint.

You just ruined my day. He was my favorite Bond since Connery and the first I really liked since Dalton.

At least the people making the films understand how to make good Bond films again.

The first Bond movie I ever saw had Dalton in it. It’s a wonder I watched any more after that. Lol

In all seriousness though, Craig is pretty much the perfect Bond. Even though people bitched about the blonde hair.

People shit on the two Dalton movies, but he was dark as well, and I think they’re pretty damn good. They offered Dalton a 3rd movie, but he eventually backed out because of the litigation around the Blofeld storyline. McClorry eventually got to make the only non-Aon Bond movie - Never Say Never Again - the worst Connery movie (despite the existence of Diamonds Are Forever). Connery did it because the Broccolis never renegotiated his contract. Dalton - my second favorite Bond.

Watched them with my buddies when I was a kid - they ran them on TV all the time. Roger Moore - did not buy it. A View to a Kill was just silly. Roger Ebert criticized the plot as not worthy of a true Bond villain.

I’m actually happy about this. He said before he was done and didn’t care. Bond deserves an actor that cares about the Franchise and isn’t there solely for the money(which Craig said would be the only reason he would return if he did).

That doesn’t surprise me in the least. He’s already said he’s sick of playing James Bond.

http://www.timeout.com/london/film/da…

Can you imagine doing another Bond movie?

‘Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.’

You want to move on from Bond for good?
‘I haven’t given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.’

Do you care who plays Bond after you?
‘Look, I don’t give a fuck. Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that’s all.’

You won’t be backseat-driving then?
‘Oh Christ, no. How fucking sad would that be? “Oh look, it’s Daniel Craig, he’s on set again!” No!’

Yes! Those two films were really dark (especially License to Kill, for obvious reasons). I can’t believe that, in light of how well received Craig has been, people haven’t started to reevaluate the Dalton films. They deserve so much credit for reining in the goofiness of the Moore films.

I had no idea that that was why there was never another Dalton film. That's too bad.

Funny, when he was announced as Bond I hated it. Didn’t think he’d be good as Bond at all.

It turned out that he ended up being my favorite, by far.

Hope they get someone else that’s equally awesome as the next one.

They had set it up perfectly to remake On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969). At the end of SPECTRE he drove off with his lady love. In an Aston. James Bond only married once (Diana Rigg) and that didn’t turn out well.
